Adagio Teas Ginseng Green Tea Review
Ginseng tea and green tea are both celebrated healthy drinks in their own right, thanks to the natural medicinal qualities that each tea is known to possess. And Adagio Teas Ginseng Green Tea has decided to offer tea fans the best of both worlds, by blending the two together and coming up with this really unusual but exceptionally delicious variety of tea.
Ginseng, for those who are not very familiar with it, is believed to have many energy-giving properties and healing qualities. While it is generally not advised for use as a decisive cure for illness or disease, it is very much recommended as a preventative measure, as it is believed that regular ginseng intake increases the body's resistance to stress due to its antioxidant and anticarcinogenic properties. Grown in Eastern Asia slightly cooler climates, ginseng is a slow-growing plant, its most often used part being the fleshy root – this is what ginseng tea is made from.
Green tea, too, is promoted as a rich source of antioxidants. Grown mainly in China and Japan, and a vital part of culture and lifestyle in both countries, it is processed using methods that minimize the oxidization process that happens when making other varieties of tea (black tea, for example). Because of this, green tea retains its natural, health-boosting properties and is thought to have a very significant effect on an individual's health if consumed regulary (about 4 to 6 cups per day).
Adagio Teas have combined ginseng tea with green tea to make their unusual and great tasting Ginseng Green Tea. Their website describes the product as: "Green tea from China with the curative benefits of ginseng root. A happy marriage of great taste and proven health benefits. Just the right touch of ginseng to liven up the cup. Makes a light and refreshing drink that's popular both hot and iced. If you are interested in the health properties of green tea and ginseng, this tea luckily combines both."
The tea has a very light fragrance to match its light flavor. It smells slightly sweet, and as you breathe in the aroma you're treated to a familiar green tea scent mingling with a hint of ginger, a hint of mint... a really pleasant – but not overpowering – combination of different scents.
Strangely, despite all the aromas mingling in the air when you brew the tea, it doesn't actually taste like any of them! It's a very pleasant brew – from the pale color of the infusion you'd be forgiven for thinking that it might taste a bit weak or bland, but that's not the case. Nor do a whole host of flavors come leaping out to assault your tastebuds. Instead, you'll be treated to a light, gentle flavor that tastes like a mild, very slightly sweet green tea. Just as the Adagio Teas description says, there's just the right amount of ginseng in the mix to liven up the tea – not to flavor it, not to harm it, simply to make it more lively and somehow more interesting. It's light, refreshing, and honestly unique without being so different as to make it unrecognizable as green tea. In fact, it's a great one to try if you've had previous bad experiences with green tea – there's no bitterness here, no grassy taste. Just a really good, really “different”, smooth green tea flavor. With all the added benefits of ginseng, as well! You can buy it online here.
