Yogi Tea Green Tea Anti-Oxidant Review

Yogi Tea's Green Tea Super Anti-Oxidant was invented in 1969 by inspiring spiritual leader, Yogi Bhajan. Keen to share the knowledge of healthy living that he had discovered in India, he began serving a special spiced tea to students in his Kundalini Yoga class in America. He was a devotee of Ayurveda (science of life), which seeks to restore the harmony of an individual using a balanced approach of treatment of diseases combined with natural remedies, and his tea's recipe contained several traditional Ayurvedic spices – which are still, even to this day, included in a lot of Yogi Tea recipes due to their unique, healthful qualities.

Focussing on the body, mind and spirit approach of Ayurveda, Yogi Tea designs each of its vast range of teas with a specific purpose in mind. Some are intended to give an energy boost to kickstart the day, others to calm the mind and assist with meditation, and so on and so forth. This particular tea, Green Tea Super Anti-Oxidant, is formulated with the intention of combatting the effects of “free radicals” in the body. These are molecules that are produced as by-products of the ageing process, and also through environmental factors – think pesticides, stress, pollution, overexposure to sunlight, that sort of thing. Free radicals might sound pretty exciting, but they're really not a good thing! The build-up of them in the body can cause acceleration of the ageing process, which basically means reduced vision, loss of flexibility, skin wrinkling, and other negative effects.

This green tea, like all green teas, contains high levels of powerful natural antioxidants known to combat the effects of these free radicals on the body. Drinking green tea is a great way to supplement your intake of healthful polyphenols, and can offer more beneficial antioxidants than a serving of fresh fruit or vegetables. Green Tea Super Anti-Oxidant has the added benefit of being organically grown – the Yogi Tea company is really serious about sourcing pure, organic ingredients for its products, and you can always notice the difference in quality when you drink an organically-produced green tea.

The tea has a fresh, organic, herb-like taste, with overtones of lemongrass. Unlike the majority of green tea on the market, it has a slight hint of sweetness stemming from the licorice root, and none of the expected bitterness that can tend to come with green tea. It's fresh, to the extent that it has an expiration date to show just how fresh! This is always a plus, because you know that you're not getting a tea full of preservatives. And as well as all its antioxidant benefits, the tea has the added bonus of containing significantly less caffeine than others. The flavor is delicate, pure and really natural, which makes a nice change from a lot of the chemically-altered products out there, many of which try to offer stronger, fuller flavors and as a result end up tasting fake, unnatural, and just too strong.

A good choice for a healthy, antioxidant-rich green tea. You can buy it online here.
